What is action research

Action research is professional development that is done from start to finish by the teacher or administrator, or whoever is doing the action research.  The data and information is coming from the teachers who are experiencing the research first hand.  They are also part of the entire process, from identification of what needs to be improved to problem-solving and ways to build and grow to implementation of what has been researched.  Because they are so actively involved, teachers will be more likely to implement or utilize the new skills and knowledge because they have ownership of the entire process.

Blogs can be used by educational leaders as a way to stay current with the pulse of the school.  Educational leaders can get very busy with keeping up with their responsibilities and may not be able to have as many conversations with staff and co-workers as they would like, so this is a great form of communication that also shows the leader is staying current with technological growth.
